She was born Apple Bay Martin on May 14, 2004, in London, the first child of the Coldplay singer Chris Martin and the actress Gwyneth Paltrow. Her parents announced their daughter's name and her co-parents' "conscious uncoupling" on her mother's lifestyle website Goop in 2014. She had her first runway appearance at sixteen for Chanel Métiers d'Art at Le Castel of Dampierre in December 2021. By her twentieth birthday in 2024 she had earned an undergraduate place at Vanderbilt, a Vogue cover, and a paparazzi infrastructure that tracked her from terminal exits at LAX to the doorways of West Hollywood restaurants. In August 2024 she announced her engagement to the Spanish hotel-heir son of an Amelio family in Madrid.
