Wei Tao

Wei Tao is a Shanghai-born journalist now based in Singapore. Her biographies cover Chinese political and cultural figures with the access of a former state-media insider and the perspective of someone who left. Her writing draws on years of archival research and personal interviews to reconstruct complex historical narratives.

In her book, The Eighty-One Days, she examines a critical period of political transition through a highly focused biographical lens. Her work prioritizes first-hand testimonies, diaries, and declassified records to bring overlooked historical details to light for a global audience.

She lives in Singapore's Queenstown neighborhood, where she works as a freelance translator and enjoys urban sketching in her spare time.
